Wood relief panel, 'Puang Phaka'

Swirling vines sprout leafy curls and delicate flowers in a richly beautiful composition. Known as puang phaka, the traditional Thai motif is ably sculpted from warm rain tree wood. Tay Nontawat carves the panel by hand with knife and chisel, and he lets it dry thoroughly before applying a protective coat of lacquer.
